Cedar Students Are Kindness Olympians
Did you pay attention to the Winter Olympics? Not those Olympics.
The Cedar Elementary 2022 Winter Kindness Olympics began with opening ceremonies during which each student learned about the Olympics and made a torch out of ice cream cones and Cheetos. As the Olympics continued, students and educators participated in a wide variety of activities:
Event 1 – Kindness to individuals – Students wrote notes to their teacher from last year and each class “adopted” two support staff member from bus drivers to office staff to write kindness notes or make posters.
Event 2 – Kindness to our community – Students participated in a food drive for the Mary Lee Maier Community Pantry.
Event 3 – Kindness to a class – Buddy classrooms either did kindness activities together or for one another.
Event 4 – Kindness to our school community – Each grade level, special education team, and office staff adopted a pre-k – 4 building and administrative team to provide baskets full of treats along with flowers, banners, bookmarks, and posters. We also donated books to each of the libraries.
Cedar held a closing ceremony parade where each student created their own kindness flag and a fellow student presented them with a gold medal of kindness.
People all around Avon are benefitting from the kindness of these Cedar Olympians. Even though the closing ceremony happened last Friday, don't expect these incredible Olympians to stop practicing kindness any time soon. It's what they do every day!
Thank you, Cedar Elementary!
